SLE for Music, ITT and Teaching and Learning - Kate Potts
Currently I am a senior Lead Practitioner in Music at Glenthorne High School in Sutton where I teach across the all key stages; 3, 4 and 5, including GCSE and A level Music. Additionally my main responsibilities include supporting colleagues with teaching and learning, delivering CPD to colleagues and partner schools and leading the Professional Studies programme to trainees on our SCITT programme. I also work with the Leadership team developing a variety of whole school initiatives. Previously I have successfully led two music departments in contrasting schools, achieving outstanding results at all levels and developing the music department and colleagues to achieve outstanding Ofsted inspections in both. I am also a designated Lead Practitioners for the SSAT, leading sessions at national conferences and have worked as a visiting lecturer. This involved delivering sessions to both under and post graduate students at local Universities. I have also worked closely with local primary schools, developing music within the curriculum and established the Wider opportunities music programme for whole class instrumental teaching.
