Kate Potts

Kate has a proven record in Education with over 15 years’ experience as a class teacher, subject and pastoral leader with responsibilities on the leadership team.   She has worked as an Advanced Skills Teacher of Music since April 2002, most recently adopting the title change of Lead Practitioner for Music and ITT. Kate has a strong background as a Subject Leader and has successfully managed two very contrasting departments in two different schools. Her work as an AST has not only covered music but also encompasses cross curricula arts based projects, whole school teaching and learning initiatives, outreach work with primary, special and secondary schools and general professional support for beginner teachers and newly qualified teachers.  Kate has planned and delivered training sessions for a variety of delegates including; whole staff INSET for specific schools, Sutton LEA Teaching and Learning Conference, SSAT National Conferences and the Annual Music Expo. Kate had also undertaken specific music training for PGCE students, initially as a visiting lecturer for Roehampton and Kingston. Kate is currently the subject tutor for the Secondary Music PGCE at Roehampton and combines this with leading ITT Professional Studies or Sutton SCITT. Kate has also worked as a Lead Practitioner for the SSAT where she worked with a variety of schools nationally, presenting and delivering sessions at the SSAT National Conference. Kate has recently been appointed as an SLE (Specialist Leader in Education) for Music and works with schools across London and the TeachFirst programme.
