Dance

'Dance is for everybody.  I believe that the dance came from the people and that it should always be delivered back to the people'. - Alvin Ailey

The Dance SCITT course will give you the opportunity to explore the creative and diverse nature of the subject and understand its importance within a secondary curriculum.  Our forward-thinking programme will prepare you to teach dance in an exciting and innovative way in line with national guidelines.  As a trainee, you will learn about different pedagogical approaches within dance education, exam specifications and the wider aspects of the subject.

You will have the experience of being based in a school which has excellent facilities and outstanding Dance results. Trainees will have the opportunity to discover a variety of teaching situations by exploring outstanding practices, different teaching styles and resources. Within workshop sessions you will participate in theory and practical dance sessions, deepening your understanding of your experience from the point of view of both teacher and pupil. Discussion of current dance literature in education will be shared each week. On the Dance SCITT you will ascertain the different way in which pupils learn, understanding how dance can powerfully impact on pupils' creative, social, and emotional development.
